The 2009 New York City Short Film Festival (www.nycshorts.com) launches its fifth year as an outlet for provocative and entertaining short films with an expanded schedule and program.

Due to the overwhelming success of previous editions, the festival will expand to four days that will take place September 10-13 at the 92Y Tribeca.

The diverse group of award-winning shorts received from around the world will be presented in the following categories: drama, comedy, documentary, animation, lgbt, foreign language, student and shorts for kids.  The kids’s category is geared for children under the age of 13 and will be presented on Sunday, September 13.

Last year over 1000 compelling shorts were received from filmmakers in the US and over thirty other countries.  Several of the winning films became official selections at other festivals and award ceremonies including Sundance, Slamdance, BAFTA, Cannes and the Academy Awards.   Attending the event were filmmakers from as far away as the UK, Germany, Canada and across the US.

The 2009 festival will continue to showcase the creative and diverse work of emerging and established independent filmmakers working in the US and internationally.  Becoming a festival sponsor provides you the opportunity to benefit from exposure to this targeted demographic of young, technically savvy filmmakers and hip fans of cutting-edge film and media.
